By BXTra | 11:29 AM PST, Sat December 10, 2011

Microsoft has told TechRadar that its current Windows Phone 7.5 platform already supports Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, but no manufacturer has enabled it as yet.

Will Coleman, developer evangelist and product manager at Microsoft UK, told us that it was simply a matter of time before the technology was harnessed by manufacturers in Windows Phone devices:

"As far as I'm aware, NFC is supported by [Windows Phone], but needs to be enabled by the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer). So, if any OEM wants to enable it, that can be done by all means."

Sites using .xxx go live

By BXTra | 6:03 PM PST, Wed December 07, 2011

More 100,000 Web sites using the .xxx domain hit the Web on Tuesday morning, heightening debate over the new top-level Internet designation.

The International Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) approved .xxx in March, and the domain went up for general sale last Tuesday.

According to a release from ICM, the registry responsible for overseeing all .xxx sites, the action offers a “responsible alternative” for sites that offer adult content, since it clearly identifies the kind of site that users can expect to see when they click on a link.
